Sailing and wind surfing
SailingThe legendary wind coming from the Maloja pass makes it possible to have marvelous sailing and wind surfing regattas in theUpper Engadine; this also in the height of summer, at a time when in other places all is calm. Highlights of the season are the Swiss-, the European- and partly also the World championships which are being carried out on the lakes of Silvaplana and St. Moritz. At 1800 meters above sea level, the lakes of the Upper Engadin enjoy great wind conditions. The Maloja wind starts in the course of the morning, showing a strength fo 3 – 6 Baufort, and only abates at sundown - a true sailor’s paradise. Information |

SurfingSince the beginning of the seventies Engadine surfers know that the legendary Maloja wind – showing the precision of a Swiss watch – begins to blow just then when the after effects of the party of the night before are starting to cease. Kite surfers now appreciate this as well. For beginners it is recommended to take advantage of the soft breeze of the morning hours for their first trials. There are daily courses for any level with top material and professional instructions: Trial courses for the curious, build up courses for re-entry surfers, courses for the advanced, fun board courses and free style courses. Each summer a variety of events happen in the Silvaplana Surf Center. Those who like it a little slower enjoy “the beach” in Sils, on the opposite side of the lake, where every summer hot parties are part of life. Contact: |
